The History of Leonidas Lancaster

Leonidas, Duke of Lancaster, is a native of Albion. Leonidas was born in a small, rural village on the misty coast of Albion. Growing up, he lived with his father and three brothers. The whole family would go hunting together. The good times continued until his father married his stepmother, Blanchet of Lancaster. Though Blanchet was a sister of the Kings of Albion and a gentlewoman, Leonidas never appreciated her--neither as a duchess nor as a family member.

The young duke-to-be was ablaze with an unknown fire that burned in his veins and a need to explore the world outside of Albion. Realizing that his frequent trips abroad were driven by a rage that he wasn't quite able to identify, he took them more and more often as he got older. During his travels Leonidas constantly sought out new combat techniques as well as tattoos to illustrate everything he learned. For example, he harvested venom from the poisonous Blockternian snake in the arctic Western jungles and applied it to his body, absorbing the snake's power. He also faced a wild ursine in the fighting pits just outside of Krethia, stabbing and wrestling the berserker bear into submission.

The Albion crown is held by martial prowess and combat. During one of Leonidas's long trips abroad, his father inexplicably challenged the twin Gemini Kings of Albion and lost his life in the ensuing duel. Leonidas rushed home to take his place as the new Duke. Although he was lawfully vested with his duchy by the twin Kings, he faced only ridicule and derision at court.

Leonidas Lancaster hopes to face the Kings of Albion in combat someday, but he must train in unconventional weapons and styles if he is to have any hope of victory. He hopes facing the world-class fighters in the Crypto Colosseum under the sponsorship of the Doge faction will bring him exactly the challenge he needs.
